# Deskling > Deskling (Korean name: 데스크링) is a pair of free Mac apps by IntentCode Co., Ltd. (주식회사 인텐트코드) that show the screen of an Android phone or an iPhone on a Mac and let you control it with the mouse and keyboard. There are two apps under one brand: Deskling for Android and Deskling for iPhone. Version 1.0.1. Since 1.0.1 the Android app connects over Wi-Fi by itself (it keeps wireless debugging on while on USB and carries on over Wi-Fi when the cable is pulled), and both apps offer to move themselves to Applications. The name (desk + -ling) means a little friend on your desk. Key facts: - Price: free. No account, no sign-up, no analytics, advertising or tracking. - Privacy: the phone screen and the mouse/keyboard input travel only between the Mac and the phone (USB cable or the local Wi-Fi). They never go through a server, IntentCode's included. - Platform: Apple silicon (arm64) Macs only. Not on the Mac App Store; distributed as DMGs from https://deskling.intentcode.co.kr/ - Downloads: https://deskling.intentcode.co.kr/download/Deskling-Android-latest.dmg and https://deskling.intentcode.co.kr/download/Deskling-iPhone-latest.dmg - Not affiliated with Google or Apple. Android is a trademark of Google LLC; iPhone, Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. - Contact: contact@intentcode.co.kr ## Deskling for Android - A modified version of scrcpy 5.0.1 by Genymobile (Apache-2.0). Modified source: https://github.com/manoit-DanielJung/scrcpy (branch macos-keyboard). - Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later, an Android phone with Android 5.0 or later and USB debugging on, and Android platform-tools (adb) installed separately (for example `brew install --cask android-platform-tools`, or Android Studio's SDK). adb is not bundled. - Connects over USB, or over Wi-Fi with wireless debugging on Android 11 or later; the app has a pairing dialog (6-digit code) and later reconnects the phone used last when it is found on the same Wi-Fi. A lost Wi-Fi link reconnects automatically. - The phone's own keyboard composes the text from raw key events, so Korean and other languages type as on the phone; Shift+Space switches the phone's keyboard language. - Button bar under the screen: volume down, volume up, back, home, recent apps, rotate, power. Right click is Back, middle click is Home. Mac editing shortcuts (Cmd+A, Cmd+Z, Cmd+arrows). - A maximized window refits the display when the phone rotates. - Sound (Android 11 or later) can stay on the phone speaker or be forwarded to the Mac, set in an options file. - Nothing is installed on the phone: a small server (scrcpy-server) is copied to a temporary folder while connecting and deletes its file once started. ## Deskling for iPhone - A Swift (AppKit) app with a Rust core built on idevice by Jackson Coxson (MIT). It uses the same CoreDevice services as Xcode's Device Hub. - Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later, iOS 27 or later, Xcode 27 on the Mac, an iPhone that trusts the Mac, and Developer Mode if the iPhone asks for it. Tested on iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2. - USB only. No sound yet. Nothing is installed on the iPhone. - HEVC screen stream at up to 60 fps; live touch from the mouse, about 0.1 s from a tap to the screen change. - Connects as a virtual hardware keyboard, so the iPhone composes Korean and other languages itself; Shift+Space switches the iPhone's language. Cmd+V pastes the Mac clipboard on the iPhone. - Same button bar as the Android app; back and forward are edge swipes. Landscape follows the iPhone automatically. Reconnects after a short USB glitch. - Uses developer interfaces Apple does not document, so an iOS, macOS or Xcode update may break it until a new version is released. ## Pages - [Deskling (English)](https://deskling.intentcode.co.kr/en/): both apps, features, how to connect, requirements, privacy, FAQ - [데스크링 (한국어)](https://deskling.intentcode.co.kr/): 같은 내용의 한국어 페이지 - [Open source licenses](https://deskling.intentcode.co.kr/licenses/): third-party notices (scrcpy, SDL, FFmpeg, dav1d, libusb, idevice, Rust crates, Pretendard)
