Deskling 한국어

Android · iPhone mirroring

See your phone on your Mac
and control it right there

Deskling is a little friend on your desk. It shows your Android phone or iPhone on your Mac, so you tap with the mouse and type with the Mac keyboard. It is free, needs no account and uses no server: the screen only travels between the Mac and the phone.

Free · Version 1.0.1 · Apple silicon Macs only · How to connect

Two apps, one way to use them

Get the app for your phone. Both apps share the same button bar and the same mouse and keyboard controls.

Deskling for Android

USB · Wi-FimacOS 13 or later

Built on the open-source scrcpy and tuned for the Mac. It also connects over Wi-Fi, without a cable.

  • Connect with a USB cable or over Wi-Fi (wireless debugging). The first time over Wi-Fi, enter the address and 6-digit code the phone shows into the app's pairing dialog.
  • The phone's own keyboard composes the text, so Korean and other languages type as they do on the phone. Shift+Space switches the phone's keyboard language.
  • Edit text with Mac shortcuts such as Cmd+A, Cmd+Z and Cmd+arrows.
  • When the phone rotates, a maximized window refits the screen.
  • Sound can stay on the phone speaker or play on the Mac (Android 11 or later, set in the options file).
  • A lost Wi-Fi link reconnects automatically.
  • While on USB it keeps wireless debugging on, so next time it connects over the same Wi-Fi by itself. Unplug the cable while mirroring and it carries on over Wi-Fi.

Deskling for iPhone

USBmacOS 14 or later

Receives the iPhone screen through the same Apple developer services Xcode's Device Hub uses. Nothing is installed on the iPhone.

  • Shows the HEVC screen stream at up to 60 fps.
  • Click and drag for live touches, about 0.1 s from a tap to the screen change.
  • Connects as a virtual hardware keyboard, so the iPhone composes Korean and other languages itself. Shift+Space switches the iPhone's language.
  • Cmd+V pastes the Mac clipboard on the iPhone.
  • Turn the iPhone sideways and the window follows in landscape.
  • Reconnects automatically after a short USB glitch.
  • USB only. No sound yet.

What both apps do

Leave the phone on the desk: the Mac mouse and keyboard do almost everything.

The mouse is your finger

Click to tap, drag to swipe, hold to long-press. The scroll wheel scrolls the screen.

Type in your language

Type on the Mac keyboard and the phone composes the text itself. Shift+Space switches the phone's language.

Button bar

Volume down and up · Back · Home · Recent apps · Rotate · Power, right under the screen. On the iPhone, Back and Forward are edge swipes.

Right click is Back

Right click goes back and middle click goes home, without moving to the button bar.

Landscape just works

Turn the phone and the window turns with it. A maximized window refits the display.

Reconnects on its own

Android reconnects after a Wi-Fi drop and carries on over Wi-Fi when the USB cable is pulled; the iPhone reconnects after a short USB glitch. The screen comes back on its own.

How to connect

Set it up once. After that, just open the app.

Android phone

  1. Install adb

Deskling uses adb from the Android SDK. Install it in the Mac Terminal with the command below. If you use Android Studio, you already have it.

    brew install --cask android-platform-tools
  2. Turn on Developer options

On the phone, open Settings › About phone › Software information and tap “Build number” seven times. Menu names vary a little by phone.

  3. Turn on USB debugging

Turn on Settings › Developer options › USB debugging.

  4. Connect by USB and open the app

Connect the cable and open Deskling. When the phone asks “Allow USB debugging?”, check “Always allow from this computer” and allow.

Connect over Wi-Fi (Android 11 or later)

  1. Turn on wireless debugging

Put the Mac and the phone on the same Wi-Fi and turn on Settings › Developer options › Wireless debugging.

  2. Pair once

Open Deskling without a USB cable and a connection dialog appears. Click “Pair…”, then enter the IP address and port and the 6-digit code shown under “Pair device with pairing code” on the phone.

  3. Connect

Enter the “IP address & Port” at the top of the wireless debugging screen and click “Connect”. Once the phone has been on USB, Deskling keeps its wireless debugging on. Next time, the app finds the phone used last on the same Wi-Fi and connects right away.

iPhone

  1. Get Xcode

Install Xcode 27 on the Mac. Deskling uses the developer services Xcode uses to talk to the iPhone.

  2. Connect by USB and trust

Connect the cable. The iPhone asks “Trust This Computer?”: tap “Trust” and enter the iPhone passcode.

  3. Turn on Developer Mode

If needed, turn on Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode and restart the iPhone. If the menu is missing, connect the iPhone to Xcode once and it appears.

  4. Open Deskling

The app finds the connected iPhone and shows its screen. If Xcode's Device Hub is showing the iPhone screen, close that view first: only one screen stream can run at a time.

Install and open the first time

Open the downloaded DMG, drag the app onto the Applications folder as the arrow shows, and open it. Opened straight from the DMG, it offers to move itself. If a dialog asks, click “Open”. If macOS only says the app cannot be opened, click “Open Anyway” at the bottom of System Settings › Privacy & Security.

Privacy

Deskling collects no personal data.

  • There is no sign-up or login, and no analytics, advertising or tracking.
  • The phone screen and your mouse and keyboard input travel over the USB cable or the local Wi-Fi only between the Mac and the phone. They never go through a server, ours included.
  • Deskling for Android keeps the serial number and Wi-Fi address of the phone used last (to reconnect next time) and a run log (to look into problems) only on this Mac.
  • Deskling for iPhone connects with the trust the Mac already has with the iPhone and stores nothing to send anywhere.

This website uses no cookies or visitor analytics. If you switch the language, only that choice is remembered in your browser (localStorage). Delivering the pages may process standard connection data such as IP addresses at the hosting service (AWS), but we do not collect or analyze it.

Frequently asked questions

What is Deskling?

A free Mac app that shows the screen of an Android phone or an iPhone and lets you control it with the mouse and keyboard. There are two apps, for Android and for iPhone, with the same button bar and the same controls. The name is desk plus -ling, “a little one”: a little friend on your desk.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it is free. Download it and use it, with no sign-up or login.

Does my phone screen go to the internet or a server?

No. The screen and input travel over the USB cable or the local Wi-Fi, only between the Mac and the phone. They never go through a server, ours included.

Do I have to install an app on the phone?

No. Nothing is installed on the iPhone. On Android, a small program (scrcpy-server) is copied to a temporary folder while connecting, and it deletes its file as soon as it starts.

Can I type Korean or other languages?

Yes. Type on the Mac keyboard and the phone's own keyboard composes the text. Shift+Space switches the phone's keyboard language.

Does it work over Wi-Fi?

Deskling for Android connects over Wi-Fi with wireless debugging on Android 11 or later. Deskling for iPhone works over USB only for now.

Can I hear the sound on the Mac?

On Android 11 or later, sound can stay on the phone speaker or play on the Mac. Deskling for iPhone has no sound yet.

Does it run on Intel Macs?

No. Both apps need an Apple silicon (M series) Mac. Deskling for Android needs macOS 13 or later, Deskling for iPhone macOS 14 or later.

The app does not open the first time.

Move the app to the Applications folder and open it again. If macOS says it cannot be opened, click “Open Anyway” at the bottom of System Settings › Privacy & Security.

Why is it not on the Mac App Store?

Both apps use developer connections (Android debugging, iPhone developer services) that cannot work inside the Mac App Store sandbox. So we distribute them as DMGs from this page.

Can an iOS or macOS update break it?

Deskling for iPhone uses developer interfaces Apple does not document, so it may stop working for a while after an iOS, macOS or Xcode update. We will fix it in a new version.

Is Deskling affiliated with Apple or Google?

No. Deskling is made by IntentCode Co., Ltd. and is not affiliated with Apple or Google.
